“The goal is not to be cured, but to develop” (Dr. Gabor Mate) I believe that the point of therapy is not to free you from the pain and struggles of life, but to support you in your personal growth by helping you uncover your authentic self which holds your capacity to heal. My role as a therapist is to support and guide you in the process of rediscovering the inherent wisdom and strength within you through fostering self-understanding and creating a space of compassionate, non-judgmental acceptance of who you are and what you’ve experienced.
With a master’s degree in clinical social work, I’m passionate about social justice and I believe that each person doing their own individual work is the first step to creating a more just, sustainable world around us. At the core of my work is relationality as I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is important for allowing your experiences and authentic self to flow naturally. As a second generation Canadian, I understand first-hand how the intersections of mental health, cultural identity and stigma can shape the way a person experiences therapy. I also strive to be an effective 2SLGBTQ+ ally and to hold space for every part of you to be seen, heard and valued.
read more The therapeutic approach I take is based on where you’re at, what you’re comfortable with, and what’s best suited to you. This often involves a blend of cognitive methods, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy, along with body-centered approaches such as Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), among others. I have experience supporting individuals managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, difficult life transitions, parenting stressors, intergenerational trauma, cultural reconnection, and navigating gender and sexual identity.
Making the choice to go to therapy can come with so many mixed emotions. You might be feeling anxiety over what might come up, not knowing what to expect, or thoughts about what “needing therapy” says about you. It might also feel relieving or exciting to think about the possibility of not struggling so much. If you’re feeling fed up with the weight of your emotions and feeling like every day is a struggle to manage, then therapy might be your next step. Therapy is the place for not only working through the traumatic and difficult parts of your life, but also the place to celebrate your progress and all the beautiful things that you experience along the way.

My work as a social worker started in 2013 in healthcare and then led me to clinical practice working with, adults, couples, and groups. My passion for therapy stems from an innate curiosity about human behavior and people and their stories, combined with an intense desire to see people become their best selves. I want to see my clients succeed when they come to therapy with me. I want them to experience changes in the most effective way possible.
My practice is a reflection of who I am—my personality, values, humor (therapy doesn’t always have to be so serious) and the strategies I believe in for mental wellness. I guide clients using cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches, balancing evidence-based techniques with practices I personally use to support my own mental health. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them progress towards the goals they bring to therapy. My laid-back, goal-focused approach to therapy prioritizes making sure my clients feel supported and validated as they work towards change.

I believe we all have the capacity to heal and learn how to live a life worth living, despite challenging and painful experiences in our lives. I believe the coping strategies we develop can start creating problems if we don’t address the underlying causes. Therapy is a safe space to explore, identify, address and resolve these issues creating transformational growth. Clients often reflect as they go through therapy as feeling lighter, as they are no longer carrying the burdens of their past.
With over 35 years’ experience working with, and helping clients heal from a variety of mental health, addictions and trauma related issues, I hope the following quote reflects how I will be working with you.
“Know all the theories, Master all the techniques, But as you touch a human soul, be another human soul”. - Attributed to Carl. G. Jung.
I am a Registered Counseling Therapist (RCT), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)and a Certified Master Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART) helping people heal from trauma. I have delivered therapy through individual and group work, and I am passionate about both approaches.

“Change is our only constant.” I often find myself saying this to my clients as well as myself when undergoing a sudden change, challenged through a difficult event, or simply trying to navigate the stressors of everyday life. Sometimes it is difficult to manage or adjust to changes on our own and we need additional support. I hope that with my expertise I can walk alongside you to provide support when it is most needed and to help you navigate the emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and stressors that are getting in the way of your wellness.
I have a special interest in working with youth, adults, families, and caregivers who are struggling with mood, personality disorders, trauma, self-harm, suicidality, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Treatment may utilize strategies from CBT, DBT, ART, Solution-focused therapy, art therapy and other approaches.

Therapy and healing from past negative experiences is a journey and having effective support along the way is invaluable. With over 20 years of experience working in mental health and addictions, I believe that one of the most powerful elements in healing and achieving a life worth living is authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to bring compassion, humor, safety, respect and acceptance to the therapeutic process. I am also known to have a bit of a “potty mouth” as this is who I am! Using a trauma-informed lens, we will work to better understand our nervous system and the root causes of our struggles as well as learn new and effective coping tools, build on current strengths, and take on new challenges that are in alignment with your personal values and goals and work to heal from past painful experiences. Yes, healing is possible!
